Petrolimex celebrates 70th anniversary and receives First-class Labour Order

The Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) solemnly celebrated its 70th anniversary (January 12, 1956 – January 12, 2026) at the VinPalace Convention Center in Hanoi on the morning of January 12. At the ceremony, Petrolimex was honoured to receive the First-class Labour Order. Additionally, the Third-class Labour Order was individually bestowed upon Mr.Pham Van Thanh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Group's Board of Management.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Bui Thanh Son – member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Tran Van Ron – member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission; Mr. Vo Van Dung – member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Vice Head of the Party Central Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh – member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Policies and Strategies; Mr. Lai Xuan Mon – member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Head of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Mass Mobilisation Commission; Mr. Nguyen Van Thang – member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Finance; Mr. Le Manh Hung – Acting Minister of Industry and Trade; Mrs. Tran Thi Hien – Vice Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission; Mr. Lai Xuan Lam – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc (Government Party Committee); Mr. Nguyen Duc Phong – Deputy Secretary of the Government Party Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Canh – Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.
Also in attendance was Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam, Rajpal Singh, along with leaders from various Central commissions, ministries, and sectors, as well as leaders and reporters from news and press agencies.
Joining this momentous event were former Petrolimex leaders from different periods, leaders of member units, and more than 1,000 exemplary employees representing a workforce of nearly 30,000, along with Petrolimex’s partners and customers from Vietnam and overseas.
Representing Petrolimex were Mr. Pham Van Thanh – Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Management; Mr. Luu Van Tuyen – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Member of the Board of Management, and General Director; as well as members of the Standing Committee of the Group’s Party Committee, members of the Board of Management and State Capital representatives at the Group, the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Board, the Chief Accountant, the Chairman and leaders of the Vietnam National Petroleum Trade Union, the Group’s Trade Union Executive Committee, the Group’s Youth Union, the Chairman of the Group’s Veterans Association, and heads of the Board of Management’s departments and functional divisions.
The event garnered significant attention from Party and State leaders. Notably, the leadership and staff of Petrolimex were deeply honoured to receive a congratulatory letter from Party General Secretary To Lam.
In his letter, the Party leader expressed his delight and commended Petrolimex for its outstanding achievements. He noted that from its inception amidst the resistance war against the US, when it ensured fuel supplies for national salvation, the Group has evolved into a pioneering State-owned enterprise (SOE). Today, it plays a pivotal role in ensuring national energy security while actively spearheading digital transformation and the green transition.
Highlighting that the country is entering a "New Era – The Era of the Nation’s Rise," the General Secretary tasked Petrolimex with continuing to innovate its growth model. He urged the Group to strive to become a market-leading force, contributing to the reduction of input costs for the economy and creating momentum for sustainable growth.
Party General Secretary To Lam expressed his firm confidence that the Group will uphold its fine traditions, proving worthy of its stature and key role as a leading state economic enterprise in the nation’s new era of development.
Spanning 70 years alongside the nation’s historic milestones (January 12, 1956 – January 12, 2026), Petrolimex was born amidst the fires of war and has grown in tandem with the country’s nation-building efforts. Throughout this journey, the Group has consistently and excellently fulfilled the missions entrusted to it by the Party and State: maintaining the vital 'petroleum arteries' of the nation, ensuring national energy security, and joining the entire people in economic construction. This is a journey forged by the resilience, intellect, and enduring dedication of generations of Petrolimex employees.
Continuing a heroic history intertwined with the nation’s major turning points, Petrolimex has resiliently penned a historical saga of socio-economic development and energy security for Vietnam. It has achieved this through pioneering transformation, constant innovation, flexible adaptation, and deep international integration. In particular, lean restructuring, pioneering digital transformation, and the development of clean energy represent strategic steps that affirm Petrolimex’s role—not only as a dominant player but also as a leader in the energy transition. The Group stands ready to advance with the country into a prosperous 'Era of the Nation’s Rise,' heading toward a future of sustainable and robust development.
In recognition of the Group’s outstanding roles and contributions to national energy security and socio-economic development, and continuing the glorious traditions of the petroleum industry, Petrolimex is honoured to receive the First-class Labour Order at today’s 70th anniversary ceremony. Additionally, Mr. Pham Van Thanh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Management, is awarded the Third-class Labour Order for his personal dedication and leadership in steering Petrolimex toward success.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son reflected on Petrolimex’s landmark development stages, from the resistance war, when it secured the nation's 'petroleum lifeline', to the periods of reconstruction, renovation, and international integration. Over its 70-year history of formation and growth, Petrolimex has consistently played a pivotal role in safeguarding national energy security, making significant contributions to macroeconomic stability and the country’s overall growth.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged the Group to continue strictly and effectively adhering to the Party's guidelines and policies. He emphasised the need to develop and implement the Group’s Development Strategy toward 2030, with a vision to 2045, by adopting modern governance models driven by science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and the green transition. Furthermore, he tasked Petrolimex with maintaining its position as a mainstay and pioneering force leading the petroleum industry.
On behalf of the Group’s leadership, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Management of Petrolimex, Pham Van Thanh, expressed his profound gratitude to the Party, State, Government, and Central ministries for their guidance and support, and for honouring the Group’s contributions with prestigious awards. He also paid tribute to the former and current leaders, as well as the entire workforce of Petrolimex, who have been dedicating themselves day and night to the development of both the Group and the nation.
Thoroughly grasping the Party’s resolutions and the directions from Party and State leaders, Petrolimex pledged to pioneer a development strategy built on three pillars: green transition, digital transformation, and organisational and cultural transformation.
The 70th anniversary ceremony painted a vivid, concise, and moving picture of the close and comprehensive guidance provided by the Party, State, and Government throughout the heroic journey of the petroleum industry; and highlighted the silent contributions and the relentless creative power of the Petrolimex people. This is more than just the history of a corporation; it is a story of the will, unity, and aspirations of generations—distilled into a "drop of energy" that flows through every Petrolimex member, ready to advance with the country into a new era.
| Through ít 70-year history of establishment and development, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group has been distinguished by the State and Party with numerous prestigious titles and honours. These include the Ho Chi Minh Order (2006), as well as Independence Orders, Labour Orders, Feat of Arm Orders, and Fatherland Defence Orders of various classes. Additionally, the Group has been conferred the noble titles of Labour Hero in the Renovation Period (2005) and Hero of the People’s Armed Forces (2006). |
